Some fuel metrics tie how much fuel is burned to how much power the engine produces. That is useful when you compare engines of different sizes: a big engine might burn more fuel total but still be efficient per unit of power.
Brake-specific fuel consumption (often called BSFC in datasheets) is one name for this idea. Lower values mean less fuel is needed for each unit of mechanical power over a period of time—similar to saying "more miles per gallon" but normalized for power instead of distance.
You will see grams per kilowatt-hour in many metric engine maps and pounds per horsepower-hour in older US technical literature. They describe the same kind of thing with different unit traditions; this converter helps you read both without manual factor lookup.
For fuel economy by distance (miles per gallon style), use the fuel consumption converter or volume fuel efficiency converter.
